Ian Worley: Racing Across the Southern Ocean

Ian Worley will be talking about his experiences whilst sailing as a watch leader, later 1st Mate, on the maxi-yacht Great Britain II in the 1977/78 Whitbread Round the World Race. While filming for BBC Grandstand, they encountered dramatic storms, raging seas, icebergs and a lightning strike. Ian will be showing clips from the film of his experiences and warns “Hold tight - we’ll be in for a bumpy ride”.
